Me!

My painting journey began as a teenager with oils and ‘poster paints’. I have painted in most mediums, including acrylics and on-glaze bone china and porcelain.  My favourite medium these days is watercolour, particularly transparent colour as I love its freshness and vibrancy.  I enjoy ‘traditional’ landscape scenes but I’m also very interested in creating pattern and textural effects and experimenting with semi-abstract themes. My favourite subjects are landscape, flowers and animals.

I worked as a biochemist for many years, before training as a primary teacher (post graduate degree) in science, art and design and technology. I now tutor art to adults at weekly classes, and provide workshops and demos to art clubs and societies.  I live in Kent and my work is sold through a local gallery in Beckenham, Kent as well as online.

I have  had paintings selected for major exhibitions including the  Artist and Leisure Painter magazine annual Open Exhibition at Patchings Art Centre, Nottingham and the Royal Society of Marine Artists Exhibition at the prestigious Mall Galleries, London.

I am thrilled that one of my paintings has been juried through to the later stages of the first ever World Watercolour Competition (The Art of Watercolour Magazine).  I am also a professional associate with the Society for All Artists (SAA). My latest project has been the illustrations for a book of Tolkien-inspired poetry which was published in Spring, 2015.

My passion for travel provides a wonderful opportunity for landscape sketching, painting and photography. I have travelled to many parts of Europe, the USA, North Africa and New Zealand.
